Creative designs for "little fishes" - what we're doing and why!

Littleish was inspired by our kids - when they first said "ish" instead of "fish" they were also ready to explore all those exciting summer activities on beaches and by pools. We're talking splishing and splashing, later on dunking and diving of course. And that's just great - as long as they are well protected against the dangers of sun exposure. We're serious about this, but surely don't want to spoil the fun. That's why we've designed innovative, yet affordable swim-wear for babies and young children, which offers maximum protection against harmful ultraviolet sun rays AND is bright funky and fun with its 3 colour ways, bold prints and soft fabric.

 

The Australian born, now Germany based Littleish founder is very aware of the risks of UVA & UVB rays for the sensitive skin of babies and children. And surprised at how carefree European parents are still sending little ones - with sometimes little more than a tan on them - off for a swim. In Australia and New Zealand, many years of public health campaigning have successfully promoted the importance of good sun protection from an early age to minimize the risk of getting skin cancer later in life.

 

Facing the facts can be an eye-opener: it's estimated that we get 50-80 percent of our total lifetime sun-exposure in our first 18 years. But young skin isn't "equipped" with sufficient UV-protective mechanisms, especially up to the age of 6. And it can't repair UV-damages yet - every sun-burn in childhood could be lethal later in life. Protecting young children in/from the sun, not only with sun-cream, but also with the right clothing, is an important global message. That we at Littleish would like to promote, with products that are:

* 100% made in Australia, accredited Ultra Violet Protection Factor 50+ (UPF 50+="Excellent Protection") under the Australian standard (AS/NZS 4399:1996), and

* have Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification.
